Students at the Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School in New Orleans' lower 9th Ward pause in their planting of MLK Live Oaks at the school. The commemorative tree planting celebrated a $10,000 donation by Sallie Mae's Business Office Solutions to AMERICAN FORESTS' Katrina ReLeaf Fund. The money will be used to bring thousands of trees back to the Gulf Coast ecosystem. The trees came from AMERICAN FORESTS' Historic Trees collection.
