European Fairs

Magazine Antiques, March, 2003 by Miriam Kramer

There are two major antiques fairs in Europe during the month of March. TEFAF Maastricht in the Netherlands takes place from March 14 to 23 and this year does not have a loan exhibition. As usual, it has attracted some two hundred antiques dealers from thirteen countries. Last year it had about seventy-five thousand visitors.

The BADA Antiques and Fine Art Fair takes place from March 19 to 25 in the Duke of York's headquarters in London and brings together about one hundred English dealers. The loan exhibition of some one hundred objects is entitled Gilded Beauty: Butte flies, Bees and Bugs. Jewels from 1645-1945. The curator is Diana Scarisbrick and the sponsors are Aon Artscope and Gander and White. There is also a commemorative exhibition devoted to the eighteenth-century collector Sir Hans Sloane.
