Attingham Summer School - curriculum

The Attingham Summer School for the Study of the Country House in Great Britain will convene for its 49th annual session between July 7 and 25,2000. The program--for selected professionals, graduate students, and advanced collectors--provides a rigorous academic survey of the architectural and social history of British country houses, their collections, and landscaped surroundings.

Seminars and lectures will be given by leading authorities from British universities and museums. Private visits to more than thirty houses include: Petworth House, Hardwick Hall, Uppark, Chatsworth, Arundel Castle, Haddon Hall, Little Moreton Hall, Lyme Park, Tatton Park, and Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. Financial aid is available. The Attingham Study Week will take place from June 5 to 13,2000, in the Republic of Ireland. The program is based in Limerick and Dublin and will include visits to Glin Castle, Emo Court, Newbridge House, Castletown House, Russborough, and many others. The deadline for applications to the Attingham Summ er School is January 31, 2000, and for the study week it is January 15,2000.
