SBA initiative rejuvenates innovation research program - Small Business Administration

Business America, Sept 10, 1990

The U.S. Small Business Administration is launching an effort to stimulate innovation and creativity among entrepreneurs. A five-step initiative will broaden participation in the agency's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

The SBIR program helps small businesses develop new products and services that satisfy specific research and development needs of the federal government. The program requires federal agencies with annual research and development budgets greater than $100 million to set aside 1.25 percent of their funding agreements for awards to small businesses.

For information, call the nearest SBA office or the Washington, D.C., office at (202) 653-6458.
