Worldwide business opportunities - trade fair dates and places

Business America, Sept 25, 1989

U.S. Pavilion at GLOBE '90. Vancouver, BC, Canada. March 20-22, 1990. This, the first edition of a proposed biennial event, will feature products in all areas of pollution control, including: air management, noise abatement, land management, information systems, water/wastewater, solid waste (including recycling), and hazardous and toxic materials. The Department of Commerce, by granting its trade fair certification status, recognizes that GLOBE '90 provides a good marketing opportunity for U.S. industry. It also means that there will be commercial officers from the American Consulate in attendance at the fair to provide assistance to U.S. exhibitors. U.S. firms interested in exhibiting at GLOBE '90 should contact Rex Armstead, President, Global Opportunities for Business and the Environment, Suite 250, 1130 W. Pender St., Vancouver, BC, Canada, tel. (604) 681-6126, fax (604) 681-1049. The Commerce Department international trade specialist supporting this event is Ms. T. Benny, Trade Fair Certification Program, Room 2114, Washington, D.C. 20230, tel. (202) 377-8220, fax (202) 377-0178.

U.S. Pavilions in Hannover Fair CeBit '90. Hannover, West Germany. March 21-29, 1990. The two USA Pavilions at the Hannover Fair CeBit '90 will be entirely devoted to U.S. products. Some 2,500 sq. meters in Hall 6 will house the microcomputer technology and the Business Information Office (BIO). The telecommunications pavilion will be in Hall 16 (264 sq. meters). The USA Pavilions have in recent years become a favorite gathering place for visitors seeking American technology. The technical program for CeBit '90 will be a forum for information exchange on data and communications technology. It will include the presentation of technical papers and special conferences encompassing data security, word processing, a European banking conference, a special bank display, and a marketing forum. The International CeBit Forum "Business USA" will be introduced for the first time in 1990 to present U.S. products for export. "Business USA" will also provide joint opportunities and highlight the United States as an attractive business partner. The certified USA Pavilions at CeBit will receive show promotion assistance and export counseling from the Department's U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service (US&FCS), which has a global network of commercial officers serving U.S. business interests. The Commerce Department's US&FCS will have staff on hand to help the participants in the U.S. Pavilions. All of the 196 U.S. exhibitors at CeBit '89 expressed an enthusiastic desire to return as exhibitors to the 1990 event. U.S. exhibitors felt that, regardless of their company size, the CeBit show gives them an edge in the international market. U.S. firms interested in participating in Hannover Fair CeBit '90 should contact Donna Hyland, Hannover Fairs USA, 103 Carnegie Center, Princeton, N.J. 08940; tel. (609) 987-1202. The Commerce Department trade specialist supporting this event is Geraldine Whitley, ITA/US&FCS/EPS/TFCP, Room 2114, Washington, D.C. 20230; tel. (202) 377-2525.
