Commerce's Office of Africa Holds Briefing on Nigeria

The Department of Commerce's Office of Africa, in recognition of the U.S. business community's growing interest and involvement in Africa, is sponsoring "Nigeria's Structural Adjustment Program: New Opportunities for U.S. Exporters and Investors.' This, the first in a series of Breakfast Business Briefings, will be held Dec. 10, in Washington, D.C.

The Office of Africa will provide an overview of Nigeria's Structural Adjustment Program and describe the importance of economic and other reforms to the U.S. business community in Nigeria. The Nigeria-U.S. Business Council's Executive Director, Millard Arnold, will relate the significance of the Structural Adjustment Program to U.S. exporters and investors. Peter Ballinger of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) will address changes in Nigeria's investment climate and discuss OPIC's Investment Mission to Nigeria in January 1988.

American firms require information and support in order to succeed in Africa's promising yet challenging markets. The Breakfast Briefing not only will update private sector representatives on recent developments and trends but will also introduce them to public officials and business representatives who can provide essential support and services in African markets.
