Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedEnvironmental opportunities in Thailand will be explored at Thai U.S. conference
Business America, Feb, 1995
The first Thailand/United States Industrial Environmental Conference will be held in Bangkok, May 22-25. The conference will be sponsored by the International Industrial Environmental Partnership (IIEP), in cooperation with the Federation of Thai Industries.
The main goal of the conference is to help Thailand solve its severe industrial pollution problems. According to a recent World Bank study, environmental pollution in Asia's rapidly developing industrial countries, including Thailand, is increasing "at an exponential rate." These countries are having difficulty coping with pollution because they lack environmental technology and technical expertise. They must import it from more advanced industrial countries such as the United States.

The conference will bring together leading industrial environmental experts from the United States and Thailand. After defining Thailand's industrial environmental problems, they will discuss those management techniques and technology applications that Thai industry can use to bring their facilities into cost-effective compliance with Thailand's strict, new environmental regulations.
During the conference, U.S. environmental companies will present case studies of technology applications appropriate to Thailand in the conference technical program and sponsor exhibits of their products and services. The conference will conclude with one-on-one meetings between these companies and potential Thai buyers and joint-venture partners.
U.S. environmental companies participating in the conference will also be able to attend Thailand Industrial Environment '95, a major international conference and exposition to be held in Bangkok May 26-29, immediately after the Thai/U.S. Conference.
The Thai/U.S. Conference is a cooperative effort of IIEP; the U.S. Department of Commerce; the U.S. Agency for International Development; state-sponsored International trade offices in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin; and state-level environmental industry associations in California, Oregon, and Washington. Several states are organizing delegations of environmental companies to participate in the Thai/U.S. Conference.
