Trade directories published for chemicals and plastics

New directories of foreign trade contacts for U.S. suppliers of chemicals, plastics products, and plastics production machinery have been published by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The two-volume "Chemicals Trade List" contains information on 5,300 foreign distributors, agents, retailers, and general importers for U.S. suppliers of chemicals, including inorganic, organic, and agricultural chemicals and plastics materials. One volume covers 62 countries in the Western Hemisphere and Europe, the other, 52 countries in the Near East, Africa and Asia.

The "Plastics Products and Production Machinery Trade List" contains information on 3,000 foreign manufacturers, distributors, agents, retailers, and general importers in 97 countries. Exports for these products exceeded $2 billion in 1983.

U.S. Computer Show. Vienna, Austria. Nov. 15-18. The Foreign Commercial Service at the American Embassy in Vienna is organizing a U.S. Computer Show to be held at the Weiner Messepalast. Prospects for sales of samll business computers, personal, home and microcomputers are excellent in Austria. Total sales of microcomputers in 1984 in Austria are expected to be about 31,000 units, an increase of more than 50 percent over last year. This show will be an American exhibition of U.S. small business microcomputers, peripherals, software, video games and calculators. Gold and Jewels Exhibition. Kuwait. Nov. 19-23. The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait has been invited to install a Business Information Office at Kuwait's Gold and Kewels Exhibition. Wanda Ale, U.S. Commercial Attache, would like to organize a pavillion for American jewelry manufacturers adjacent to the Embassy's office in order to promote U.S. merchandise at this event. The fair attracts buyers from Kuwait, the Gulf States and other Middle East countries, offering U.S. exhibitors important market exposure in a region where trade opportunities abound. EXPOQUIMIA '84. Barcelona. Nov. 19-24. The triennial trade exhibition will be the focal point for the chemical industry of Spain and adjoining markets. Chemicals and pharmaceuticals constitute a $19 billion industry, accounting for about 12 percent of Spain's GNP. Imports amount to $3.8 billion, of which U.S. companies have a 12 percent share. This event encompasses a wide range of products, including analytical and laboratory instruments, process controls, pumps, valves and compressors, chemical products, and chemical/Pharmaceutical industry processing equipment. The last event in 1981 involved approximately 500 exhibitors, of which nearly 200 were U.S. companies. It attracted some 66,000 visitors from Spain and other countries. This year, EXPOQUIMIA will host a number of important technical congresses and workshops. PRONIC. Paris. Nov. 20-23. The U.S. Department of Commerce will sponsor an American Pavilion in this international exhibition for electronics industry production and test equipment. This is the first time that a French exhibition of this magnitude will be dedicated solely to this theme.
