INDIA--The National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC), New Delhi, a government of India enterprise, is expanding its coal-based thermal power generating capacity at its Farakka super thermal poer project, in District Murshidabad of West Bengal State, from 600 mw to 1,600 mw by adding two coal-fired units of 500 mw each. NTPC proposes to prequalify the candidate firms that would be interested in participating in the bidding for the design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of two units of steam turbine-generator sets of 500 mw capacity each, including the condenser to be installed at the Farakka project site. The anticipated schedule of completion of load trial operation of the first unit will be 51.5 months and the second unit will be 60.5 months from the date of contract award, which is expected to be July 1985. Since NTPC has negotiated a loan of US $300.8 million with the World Bank and a part of the proceeds of the loan to fully finance the supply cost of the steam turbine generator sets, only bidders from member countries of the World Bank, Switzerland and Taiwan are eligible to participate in proposed tender. Prequalification document is available from the office of National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd., Corporate Contract Services, NTPC Square, 62-69, Skipper House, Nehru Place, New Delhi-110019, (telex: 031-2286 and 3448), by giving reference no. 01/cc/43-001. The deadline for submission of prequalification document is Nov. 30.

GUYANA--The Mahaica-Mahaicony-Abary Agricultural Development Authority (MMA-ADA), the executing agency for the Abary River water control project through the Project Tender Committee of the Ministry of Finance, invites firms to tender for the supply of telecommunications equipment (telephone) for subject project. Under the terms of the loan agreement 536/SF-GY between the Inter-American Development Bank and the government of Guyana the procurement of these supplies will be fully financed by the Inter-American Development Bank.
