Children Today, March-April, 1991 by Shira M. Ledman, Betty Thompson, Janet W. Hill
The EveryBuddy Program was extremely well received by our entire community. It is so simple, efficient, and cost effective to operate, it has inspired us to replicate the design in our efforts to integrate adolescents and adults with disabilities into the regular recreational opportunities the community offers. In addition, with the technical assistance provided by Chesterfield Community Services Board and the Virginia Institute for Developmental Disabilities Respite Resource Project, the EveryBuddy model is being replicated this school year in two other communities in Virginia.

Our community recognizes that without integrated leisure services, individuals with disabilities will never be truly integrated into the community. The EveryBuddy Program is proof that integration can be successful.
