Things unseen

Things unseen

Beyond dark trees the sun slid low,
And only the hawk still caught the glow,
Spiraling above still water, bright crown
Of fire, circling higher. As day leaned
Slowly into night, the hawk, still rising,
Slipped from sight, but no less real
For not being seen. High, up, beyond
Where knowing stops, wide wings still lift,
   Still carry light.
