The Religion Newswriters Association, the professional organization for journalists covering religion news for the secular media, has given its top reporting prize to Douglas Todd of the Vancouver Sun. The annual contest winners were announced September 23 following the group's meeting in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Todd won $3,500 as the Templeton Religion Reporter of the Year, and Teresa Watanabe of the Los Angeles Times won $1,000 for the top religion writing award. For the fourth straight year, the Dallas Morning News was cited for the best religion news section in North America.
