James Dobson, longtime president of Focus on the Family, will expand his role as chairman of the conservative Christian group

* James Dobson, longtime president of Focus on the Family, will expand his role as chairman of the conservative Christian group. But he will pass the day-to-day presidency role to Don Hodel, the former president of the Christian Coalition and a cabinet member in the Reagan administration. Hodel will begin serving as president and CEO May 15 at the Colorado Springs--based ministry.

Dobson will continue as host of his widely heard radio program.
