Film Comment, March-April, 2002 by Chris Chang
A young, aggressive Irish Republican Army hetero (Shawn Hatosy) winds up in a British reform school and comes to realize he no longer fits his own description. Based on a memoir by legendary booze scribe Brendan Behan, the film poignantly portrays the delirium of an adolescent renegade's coming of age during WWII.
Special mention for American actor Hat, y, who nails both the character's stuttering accent and wobbly sexual orientation. (now playing)
