KAROL CORBIN WALKER is the first Black president of the 104-year-old New Jersey State Bar Association. She will head the board of trustees, serve as the association's spokesperson and will continue serving as a trustee for the New Jersey Bar Foundation, the association's philanthropic arm. Walker became the first Black woman partner with a major New Jersey law firm in 1995 when she became a partner with the law firm of St.
John & Wayne, L.L.C. The new bar association president graduated from New Jersey City University, formerly known as Jersey City State College, with a bachelor's degree in political science. Walker received her law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she later became an adjunct professor. She and her husband, Paul Walker, live in Morris Township.
