Dress for the party
Ebony, August, 2004 by Eunice W. Johnson
IT'S summer, and to many that means party time. Yes, the warm weather season is indeed a busy social season, and Italian, French and New York designers offer an abundance of styles to keep you socially correct. Pink, green and peach continue to be popular summer hues, but white, cream and black are favorite standbys. And short skirts continue to be the preference for the young in body and spirit. Favored fabrics included sheer chiffons (such as that used by Zac Posen for the pretty skirts of his cocktail ensembles), silky satins and clingy jerseys. Party dresses ranged from simple empire styles to sassy toga-inspired designs to sleek body-hugging silk crepes and luxurious taffeta ball gowns. A common theme throughout the designer collections was showing off the body beautiful. So take inspiration from the designs shown here to find the perfect party ensemble that will make you the envy of all the other women at that special summer soiree.
