Will Downing: returns with sexy soul

Ebony,  Nov, 2005  by Lynn Norment

WILL DOWNING never disappoints his fans, and that holds true for his latest release, Soul Symphony (GP/Universal), a soulful, jazzy set that soothes, enthralls and titillates. Downing kicks off the set with the sensual "Put Me On," followed by the romantic slow groove "Crazy Love," the first single from the CD.

Then there's Downing's seductive take on Brian McKnight's "What's It Gonna Be," and "Superstar," a song made popular by Luther Vandross and which Downing delivers with verve and passion. Downing himself co-penned several of the cuts on the recording, including the confession al "Heart of Mine," the dance groove "Soul Steppin,'" and the encouraging, uplifting "Will Still Loves You," which he dedicates to hard-working women and mothers.
