The 2008 SuperSingles

Ebony, Nov, 2008 by Marie Vash

I was truly disappointed in "The 2008 SuperSingles" (Aug. 2008), about eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. Mixing the guys with the gals is a bad idea. In doing it this way, you do not get the variety and range of singles that you used to see. Was there a shortage of applicants?

I was particularly insulted (for myself and my Black Sisters) to see a professional gambler presented as a good catch for one of us. In past issues of EBONY, I remember the bachelors and bachelorettes had to stand for something positive and be a good catch for someone. Who would want to introduce their sister, friend or mother to a gambler as a good possibility for a mate? I am sure there were Black men whose pursuits and occupations were more acceptable than someone who just rolls the dice for a living.

Next time, please choose Black men and women who are upright, honorable, professional and attractive. There are many of us out here who are worthy of gracing your pages.
