5 questions for: Bow Wow - Front Row - Brief Article - Interview

Ebony,  Dec, 2003

You've gone from Lil' Bow Wow to Bow Wow and from corn rows to a fresh fade. What's behind the change?

It's just a sign of getting older. I felt that it was time for a change. I'm 16 years old now. I'm a young man. Things are different. I'm ready to move on, and right now it's all about transition from Lil' Bow Wow to Bow Wow and just moving ahead. I'm a young man, so I'm going with a more mature look. I like to change things up a bit.

2 You recently released Unleashed, your third CD. How does the music on this album differ from the others?

It's different because it's on an entirely new level in terms of what I'm talking about. I'm talking about true-life situations that are actually going on right now. I wanted to try something different with this album, rather than talking about the same thing over and over again. So I got different producers to come from all over, from the South to the West Coast to the East Coast and the North. There is definitely a voice change. This album is definitely on another level.

3 Which artist would you most like to work with that you haven't worked with yet?

I would love to work with DMX. I haven't had a chance to work with him, and I'd love to work with Snoop again. On the acting side, I'll have a chance to work with Will Smith in Mr. President, and with Cedric the Entertainer in The Johnson Family, both coming out next year.

4 Who do you credit for the success you've enjoyed?

My mother and God ... definitely and without a doubt. I also work hard each and every day. I try to improve myself. I always work hard al everything I do, whether it's my movies, or my Shago clothing line, or my record company, LBW Entertainment. I try to be open to different things. I try to keep going, and I always try to do my best.

5 What kind of girl turns Bow Wow's head?

I'm looking for a girl who's ghetto. If you're ghetto, then you're the one for me. Just like on the first album ... I like 'em ghetto.
