As president and chief executive officer of Hibernia National Bank's investment banking firm, Hibernia Southcoast Capital Corp., Joseph E. Williams is the first African-American investment bank president in the Gulf South. He is responsible for overseeing all of Southcoast's investment banking activities and supervising the corporate-finance operation for Hibernia, a Forbes 500 company with $16.6 billion in assets throughout Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

Williams holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the Boston University School of Management and an MBA in multinational enterprise/finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Williams and his wife, Gail, a social worker for the Jefferson Parish school system, live in New Orleans with their two daughters, Lasharn and Danielle.
