BROWN RICE WITH GREEN PEAS 3 cups cooked brown rice 1/4 cup chicken broth 1 cup frozen green peas, thawed 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onion 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme Salt and pepper to taste
Place cooked rice in a saucepan with the chicken broth. Stir in peas, green onion, thyme, salt and pepper. Heat thoroughly. Garnish with chopped red bell pepper if desired.
Yields 8 servings

WEIGHT-LOSS TIPS
* Avoid beverages sweetened with sugar. Sugar has no nutritional value.

* Choose low-fat foods and decrease the amount of fried foods. Trim all visible fat from meat and choose leaner cuts of meat.
* Avoid seasoning vegetables with fatty meats. Try using low-sodium bouillon, herbs, spices, garlic, lemon juice, etc. juice, etc.
* Eat in moderation. Eat smaller portion sizes.
* Avoid eating one big meal.
* Eat nutritious snacks like raw vegetables, fresh fruit, sugar-free Jello.
* Try not to allow more than four to five hours between times that you eat so that you won't get too hungry.
