Sex and the spirit: SOS for Single Christian Sisters
Ebony, Jan, 2005 by Kimberly Davis
Jackson, 49, who has been married to his wife Coreen for 11 years and has three sons, says that life's three most important decisions are "your Master, your mission and your mate. If you know God's purpose and passion for your life, even if you don't find anybody, you'll still lead a full life." Jackson also believes that not everyone who wants to will jump the broom. It doesn't mean that God doesn't love you or want the best for you, it's just not part of everyone's mission.
"The Apostle Paul wrote three-fourths of the New Testament, and God didn't send him a wife," Jackson says. "Not everybody's going to get married. It's just the truth."
And the harder a Christian Sister tries, the harder it may be for her, says Jackson, who worked in ministry with college students for two decades. He says take it easy, love yourself and do your thing. "Men can smell a desperate woman," Jackson says, "and they run."
THE FINAL WORD
Not surprisingly, most Christian relationship experts encourage celibacy. Not just because it's biblical, but because it can also be practical and healthy. Women, especially, should set and maintain a price for their mind, body and soul to stay healthy in mind, body and soul. If you make a man your everything and give him everything, what's left?
"Women need to learn how to leave a man always wanting more," Michelle McKinney Hammond says. "That man should sit up ... at night wondering about how to get more of you--and come to the conclusion that if he wants you completely, then he must marry you."
