Dr. Elson S. Floyd is the 21st president of the University of Missouri and the first African-American to hold the position. As president, he oversees the university's four campuses (Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla and St. Louis), which include more than 60,000 students. Dr. Floyd, who oversees an annual budget of $1.8 billion, has three degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill--a bachelor's degree in political science and speech, a master's degree in adult education and Ph.D.'s in higher and adult education.
He and his wife, Carmento, live in Columbia and have two children, Kenny and Jessica.
