Unwrapped Vol. 2. . - The Best In Recorded Music - sound recording review

Ebony, Feb, 2003

Incredibly, Hidden Beach Recordings has improved on a concept it created. The innovative label has put together UNWRAPPED VOL. 2, which deconstructs and rebuilds hip-hop, and infuses it with jazz and R&B rhythms. The resulting music is fresh, hip, mellow and smooth, and it appeals to music lovers across genres and generations.

Featured are Nelly's "Hot in Herre," Ja Rule & Ashanti's "Always On Time," Jay-Z's "Girls, Girls, Girls," and "Pastime/ Gangsta's Paradise" from Stevie Wonder and Coolio. Among the outstanding musicians pumping up Unwrapped 2 are Patrice Rushen on piano and other instruments, Karen Briggs on violin, Mike Phillips on saxophone, Jeff Lorber on Rhodes, and Jeff Bradshaw on trombone.
