SPENCER R. CREW is the executive director and CEO of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, a $110 million facility located on the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati. Crew, who was named the executive director in 2004, is the former director of the National Museum of American History.
He also served as an assistant professor of African-American and American History at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. "Building and leading the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center fulfills my life's dream," said Dr. Crew. He received a bachelor or arts degree from Brown University and a doctorate from Rutgers University. He and his wife, Sandra Prioleau Crew, have two adult children, Alika and Adorn.
