Lenny Kravitz - Letters To The Editor - Letter to the Editor

Ebony,  April, 2002

I read with pride and elation the article, "Why Lenny Kravitz Is So Hot, And Why Women Fans Are Screaming" (Jan. 2002). As a Bahamian American from a much older generation, I am proud and happy to see him acknowledge all of his heritage. I am presently in Exuma, Bahamas, where I have built a home and spent the past 27 years during December and January, and where nine years ago, I was married and enjoyed my honeymoon.

I am so happy that Lenny has a strong sense of identity and it's wonderful that he knows who he is. This is the key to his success, and can be used by others as a model to successful living. He is blessed because his mother shared her heritage with him, and that he accepted it.

It was refreshing to see Lenny Kravitz in a recent issue. Reading about this multitalented Brother and his personal love for Jesus was a breath of fresh air to me. Refreshing, indeed, because Mr. Kravitz is not part of the crowded, commercialized music genre of rap/hip-hop that African-Americans seemingly dominate. Continue, Mr. Kravitz, to love Jesus (I am a born-again believer) as your success ascends to the next level!
