Ebony,  April, 2003

Republican Jennette B. Bradley is the first African-American woman elected lieutenant governor, holding the post in Ohio, the seventh largest state. As lieutenant governor, she also is director for the Commerce Department and liaison to county and local governments. Bradley, who oversees the state's chief regulatory agency, held other positions that prepared her for this post.

She was elected to serve three terms as a city council member in Columbus, Ohio. She was senior vice president of public funds at Huntington National Bank, and she was the youngest person, the first African-American and the first woman to serve as the executive director of the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority. Bradley earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. She lives in Columbus with her husband, Michael C. Taylor.
