Rosa Parks - Letters To The Editor

Ebony,  April, 2003

Thank you for the wonderful article, "What Barbershop Didn't Tell You About Rosa Parks" (Feb. 2003). Because of Ms. Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and countless others' willingness to sacrifice their very beings, we as a people are able to grasp a future that was once beyond our imagination.

It is unfortunate that our young Black people do not understand the full breadth of the civil rights champions' contributions. If they did, our young people would realize that the legacies left behind by Ms. Parks and others are to be protected and not debased.

Thank you for the inspiring story about Rosa Parks. She's an American treasure. If she had not refused to give up her seat that day, it may have taken many more years for the Civil Rights Movement to begin.
