Caption: Astronaut Michael P. Anderson, on his second flight into space, was among six other astronauts who were killed when the space shuttle Columbia broke up during re-entry into the earth's atmosphere on February 1, 2003. The 43-year-old lieutenant colonel was in charge of Columbia's variety of science experiments, including one that focused on prostate cancer, a disease that disproportionately victimizes African-American men.
