Black College Queens

THEY are women of distinction. The Black College Queens of 2004 started out with a dream--to represent their colleges and universities with pride and grace, and they have kept the faith.
Beginning with the end of the alphabet, the Sisters on this list include queens from historically Black colleges and universities and Black campus queens at traditionally White institutions. They are the dreamers of today, the doers of tomorrow.
ANDREA CULLERS OF Fort Valley, Ga., is Miss Albany State University. A junior English major who enjoys horseback riding and yoga, she wants to be a news anchor and talk show host.
Miss Alcorn State University is SHEQUETA M. WELLS, a senior from Greenville, Miss. An elementary education major whose hobbies include piano and singing, she plans to become an elementary schoolteacher.
Miss Alabama A&M University is ROSINA O. ENGLAND a senior from Sprott, Ala. A food science/business management major, she would like to work n corporate law and eventually attend seminary school.
MIGNON R. TURNER, a senior, is Miss Winston-Salem State University. A native of Burlington, N.C., she is a Spanish and mass communications major who intends to obtain a master's degree in international development.
ERIKA M. RICHARDSON, a senior from Summerville, S.C., is Miss Claflin College. A pre-medicine/biology major, she intends to pursue advanced degrees in medicine and public health.
CRYSTAL S. SUMPTER, a junior from Pittsburgh, is Miss Howard University. A marketing major, she plans to own a marketing firm associated with the performing arts.
Miss Xavier University of Louisiana is SACIA FOWLER, a senior from Oklahoma City, Okla. She plans to attend law school to specialize in intellectual property and majors in sociology.
ERICA N. JOHNSON, a senior sociology major, is Miss Wiley College. The Shreveport, La., native plans to obtain advanced degrees from Boston University and become a therapist.
Miss Wilberforce University is SHYVON LACY of Cleveland, a marketing major who wants to attend graduate school and work in advertising and promotions.
AUTUMN ANDERSON, a Baltimore native, is Miss West Virginia State College. A junior majoring in elementary education, she enjoys volunteering, and plans to become a teacher.
KISHA L. SEARLES is Miss Voorhees College. The Lincolnton, Ga., native is a senior sociology major who was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Miss Virginia Union University is ANDREA M. CONWAY, a Washington, D.C., native majoring in interdisciplinary studies/English. A senior, she plans to become a teacher.
NISHEKA HANDY, Miss Virginia State University, is a senior business management major from Atlantic, Va. She plans to own and operate a hair and nail salon.
Miss University of the Virgin Islands, ALBA HARRIGAN, is a junior from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, majoring in psychology. She intends to become a psychologist.
SABRINA RICHARDSON is Miss University of Maryland Eastern Shore. A senior from Sicklerville, N.J., she is an English major who plans to pursue a law degree.
Miss University of the District of Columbia is MARANDA JONES-ANDERSON, a senior from Los Angeles. An accounting major, she aspires to become CEO of an accounting firm.
TERESA R. RAMEY, Miss University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, is a senior majoring in English education. A native of Pine Bluff, Ark., she is also a gospel singer and wants to teach.
Miss Tuskegee University, DIANNE S. DAVIS, is from Oklahoma City and plans to attend medical school. A senior biology/pre-medicine major, she enjoys ballet dancing and community service.
Chiatne T. McFarland is MISS TOUGALOO COLLEGE. The Jackson, Miss., native is a senior majoring in biology/pre-medicine and wants to obtain advanced degrees in public health and medicine.
Miss Texas Southern University is BRANDI N. FORD, a senior theatre major from Las Vegas. A member of the debate team and dance squad, she aspires to become an actress.
SAMANTHA BLOUNT, Miss Texas College, is a biology major from Los Angeles. A senior who enjoys writing short stories, she plans to become an attorney.
Miss Texas A&M University-Commerce is MARLONDA MALCOLM, a senior from Garland, Texas. A mass media communications major, she hopes to work for a major radio station.
CARLA D. STITT, a senior, is Miss Tennessee State University. A biochemistry major from Dallas, she plans to get advanced degrees in divinity and medicine and work as a missionary in Africa.
Miss Spelman College, KATRINA D. HUDSON, is a senior political science major from Memphis, Tenn. She enjoys golf and photography, and plans to begin a golf and academic center for African-American girls.
SHONESHA L. REESE is Miss Southwestern Christian College. A native of Rochester, N.Y., she is a sophomore majoring in child psychology. She teaches Sunday school in her spare time.
Miss Southern University at Shreveport is TYRICE L. MUNSON, a sophomore nursing major from Shreveport, La. She is a member of the Afro-American Society Club.
LATOYA WISE, a senior from New Orleans, is Miss Southern University at New Orleans. Her leisure interests include singing, reading and dancing.
