Katherine Dunham

Ebony,  April, 2006  by Jean A. White,  Ralph Gordon

Thank you, EBONY, for your article, "The Legendary Katherine Dunham" (Feb. 2006), by Tracey Robinson-English. In a world where few take a stand for the truth, we are so grateful to Katherine Dunham for being a pioneer in breaking down walls of discrimination and sacrificing her life in a hunger-strike protest regarding the return of Haitians by the U.S. government.

Dunham has educated the world on culture and dignity of African and African-American people. She not only is an important part of our history, but she is also our motivation to take a stand through our actions.
