Literary contest

Ebony, May, 2004 by Pamela Watkins Elmore

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Language does have limits at times when expressing heartfelt emotions. It is such a great honor to me and my family that EBONY has recognized my short story, "Sacred Designation," as a winner in the 12th Annual Gertrude Johnson Williams Literary Contest (April 2004). I have read EBONY and Jet all my life. One of my earliest memories was of both magazines being left on the coffee table, kitchen table or a side table in a bedroom. You have represented Black America throughout many trials, challenges and successes. You gave us a voice when few were heard. You have been a mentor to many followers and those yet to come. In that my recognition has come from EBONY means all the world to me. Hence, "Thank you," doesn't seem quite enough. Continued success and many blessings!
