With new recording, Joe Titillates & Serenades across generational lines

Ebony, May, 2007 by Lynn Norment

JOE makes an audacious return to the music charts with a sizzling new recording, Ain't Nothing Like Me (Jive Records). Just in time for the spring season of love and renewal, the Grammy-nominated artist delivers another great set of sensual, romantic love songs.

Among the tops picks are "That's What I Like" and "Where You At," on which he demonstrates that he is an old-time crooner for the new generation. "Where You At," on which Joe sings apologetically for the way he treated his woman, finishes with strong rap from Papoose. On "If I Was Your Man," he makes bold promises that inspire every woman to wish he were singing to her personally. The boastful "Like Me" is set to a funky beat, while on "Fell For You," he serenades convincingly. Hip-hop artist Nas appears on "Get to Know Me," an invitation that's hard to refuse.

Whereas Joe's music long has been a favorite at weddings, he takes it a step further on this introspective recording as he offers emotions and experiences from his own life and relationships. "This is more of a reflection of me and all the things I've seen in life," he says. "This album really captures my own journey."

Among the producers who helped to interpret Joe's emotions and experiences are Jermaine Dupri, Cool & Dre, Brian Michael Cox, Tim and Bob, Stargate and Sean Garrett.

With Ain't Nothing Like Me, Joe again thrills and entertains listeners with titillating lyrics, a melodious tenor and sensuous rhythms that appeal to music lovers across generational lines.
