Cool Summer Style

COOL. Sexy. Hot. Breezy. The vision of Black men in white turns heads and sets hearts aflutter. (Nothing is sexier than Black men in white except Black men in black.) White linen and cotton and silk against the bronze and brown and caramel hues of masculine African-American skin is ravishing and beautiful, eye-catching and stylish.

Men in white herald the summer season. When the temperatures rise, stylish men pull out the whites from jeans, shorts and T-shirts to slacks and silk shirts to linen suits and white tuxedos. Regardless of status, job or social destination, men of all physiques and backgrounds and generations can wear white attire with class and style.

In Hollywood, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Steve Harvey, Scan Combs, Samuel L. Jackson and Wesley Snipes often wear white to movie premieres, awards shows and other glitzy events. For his Caribbean wedding, nationally syndicated disc jockey Tom Joyner wore a white Brioni suit; the men in the wedding party and several hundred guests also wore white.

At summer conferences of the NAACP, the National Urban League, the Black MBAs and the National Association of Black Journalists, white is the color choice of many business and professional men. It is a great look for sipping and chatting at receptions, sitting in on a workshop or seminar, or attending a dress-up gala. White is also a popular color choice among Brothers for Sunday religious services and other summer church events.

Dressed up or dressed down, White is the color to catch summer breezes and admiring glances.

At his Caribbean wedding in Jamaica, nationally syndicated disc jockey Tom Joyner wore a white Brioni suit. He is flanked by his sons. Thomas Jr. and Oscar, who also wore stylish white, as did the men in the wedding party and several hundred guests.

At a hip-hop awards show, rapper and actor Will Smith is decked out in a White denim ensemble with T-shirt and drawstring pants. On other occassions, Smith has worn dressy white suits and tuxedos.

Rapper Busta Rhymes makes a point dressed in white pullover, lace-up shirt and matching pants while attending a music awards show. He complements his attire with white and tangerine shoes.

Actor Wesley Snipes makes a fashion statement at a Hollywood event in white linen suit with mandarin-collared jacket. To top off his ensemble, he wears black and white shoes.
