For Brothers Only - Letters To The Editor - Letter to the Editor

Ebony, June, 2002

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the April 2002 "For Brothers Only" column, "What's Wrong With Being A Fool In Love?" It followed a conversation I had with a male friend, and he was describing his first love and how they were always together, hanging out, shopping, going to the movies, etc.! At that time, she was the only woman whom he thought about and wanted to be with. Then he asked what was I looking for in a relationship, and I told him: "Exactly what you just described!" See, I feel more Brothers need to do just that, represent on the strength and give us Sisters a chance to partake in an old-fashioned courtship. So, I say, hold on Sisters, there's hope!

I just wanted to send some love out to Kevin Chappell for his column, "What's Wrong With Being A Fool In Love?" I was all ready to jump on his case for talking about the young Brother the way he did at the beginning of the column. But it turned out that Kevin saved himself at the end, stating that maybe the young Brother's ways were the right ways, and I appreciate him for acknowledging that. Because there is nothing wrong with a fool in love!
