In Washington, D.C., Dr. Roscoe Brown Jr., a Tuskegee Airman, poses with President Bush and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi after receiving the Congressional Gold Medal during a ceremony to honor the Tuskegee Airmen. 2. In Los Angeles, Rachel Renee Smith, Miss Tennessee, is crowned Miss USA by former Miss USA Tara Conner. 3. NASA astronaut Joan Higginbotham throws out the ceremonial first pitch at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago on opening day for the Chicago White Sex. 4. At the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, comedian George Wallace, as part of his "I Be Thinkin"' show, is joined onstage by music legend Sly Stone. Wallace, who claims to be Stone's biggest fan, convinced the usually reclusive star to perform, proclaiming "Sly is back, even if it's just for one night."
