Family reunions - Letters To The Editor
Ebony, July, 2002 by Frances Boyd Farlow
I enjoyed reading the article, "How To Plan The Best Family Reunion" (April 2002). I make plans for African-American reunions, specializing in planning high school and family reunions. I attended the 12th Annual African American Family Reunion Conferenee in Baltimore, Md., in March. I have planned and organized several reunions for my paternal grandfather's family. I presented the information I received from the conferenee to family members to plan a reunion for my paternal grandmother's family. I scheduled a meeting, and we had about 20 adults and 10 children present at the meeting. I put a packet of reunion information together and presented it to the group.
This reunion of the Houston Family will take place December 2002 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We will incorporate Kwanzaa during this three-day event. Our theme: "Meet & Greet Your Family."
Again, thank you for this article. I collect articles on reunions, and this one will go into my collection.
