Ebony's top black high school seniors

JADE ANDREA BURCH, the top-ranked student at Detroit's Renaissance High School, is a member of the United States National High School Scholars Honor Program, National Honor Society and is a recipient of the Michigan Merit Award. Butch plans to study pre-medicine at Columbia University in New York.
THOMAS S. REIVES is a Ventures Scholar at the Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. He is treasurer of the National Honor Society, and captain of the varsity soccer team. Reives has been awarded full tuition to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He will study engineering.
JUSTIN BOYD an aspiring architect of the Northland High School in Columbus, Ohio, is senior class vice president, captain of the track team and is a member of the National Honor Society. Boyd plans to attend Ohio State University.
CURTIS HOPSON is the senior class vice president at the Metro High School in St. Louis. The future computer scientist is on the national honor roll, and has been recognized by Who's Who Among American High School Students. Hopson plans to attend Florida A&M University.
CELISA HUDSON AND MARCUS SMITH are future engineers and honor students at Norview High School in Richmond, Va. Hudson is the recipient of the Virginian Pilot Scholastic Achievement Award and is a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to study engineering at Virginia Tech. Smith is a member of the Honor Roll Society, Spanish Club and is a participant in the NASA Sharp program. Smith plans to study mechanical engineering.
KESIDE CHINEME DELU UGOJI of Fairhope, Alabama's Fairhope High School is the president of the Mu Alpha Theta honor society, a member of the All-State Choir and is captain of the cross-country track team. She has received more than $150,000 in scholarship offers and plans to attend Yale.
BRANDON CHRISTIAN HENLEY is a member of the National Honor Society and the Math National Honor Society at Omaha's Central High School. Henley also has over 100 hours of community service. The avid golfer plans to study biomedical engineering at Vanderbilt University.
JENNIFER BEAL is valedictorian at the Lafayette High School in Buffalo, N.Y. Beal, a recipient of the prestigious Kodak Award, is also the captain of her debate team. The future pediatrician volunteers at Millard Fillmore Hospital and plans to study pre-medicine at Canisius College.
