Getting to the root: hair care for sister

Ebony,  July, 2005  by Oscar James

q: "I have fine, brittle hair with an increasingly noticeable bald spot. Normally, I spray temporary hair color of brush hair over the spot to conceal it, but now that I have a high-profile job I want to wear extension. Which weaving process do you suggest?"

--Corporate Chic, St. Louis

a: Dear Corporate Chic:

Unfortunately, many women lose their hair due to stress, heredity and chemical damage. Many times, the damage can't he undone, so I do recommend wearing extensions. My favorite method of weaving is the braided technique I find that if done properly, it's the least damaging to your hair. If your hair is really weak, I'd use a net that can he sewn to the braids around the perimeter and then I'd attach the extensions to the net (and not the natural hair) to avoid any further damage. I also recommend that you see a professional who can help you find the actual cause of your hair loss. P.S. Good luck with your new job!
