Happy Reunion. - sound recording reviews

Ebony, August, 1991 by Lynn Norment

The reissue of duke Ellington's Happy Reunion (Sony) on compact disc is a bonus for collectors of all musical genres. In 1957 and 1958, Ellington recorded this material in two sessions in a studio in Chicago, which he considered his goodluck city. Consequently, he recorded and performed there often.

Selections include "Way Back Blues," "Where's The Music," "In A Mellotone," "Happy Reunion," and "Diminuendo And Crescendo In Blue." Among the musicians featured is Clark Terry on Trumpet.
