At home with CeCe Winans

Ebony, Nov, 1998 by Lynn Norment

With acting, as with her music and book, CeCe seeks an avenue to deliver positive messages. She says she's excited by the success of Touched by an Angel, and that more such family television vision programming is needed. Despite her hectic schedule, Winans is also spokesperson for Teen Save, a new national teen suicide prevention .

She also wants to do children's projects and a CD of love songs. "There are Scriptures about the husband loving the wife," she says. "I know that God doesn't frown on love songs... I would love to do a marriage album dedicated to my husband, whom I love and to whom I would love to express that... I don't want to be put in a box."

There is no creative box that can hold the enormous talent, spiritual warmth and generous heart that characterize CeCe Winans. She is a world-renowned singer, a caring daughter and sister, and a loving mother and wife. And while she is grateful for and humbled by her success, she wants to do more. "I just want to reach the world. with my music, with what God has given me.
