HAIR With Flair

LOOKING better than ever is always a popular New Year's resolution. One way to do it is to say goodbye to that same old hairstyle you've been wearing, and say hellot to a sensational new "'do."

It doesn't matter if you rhair is short or long, permed or pressed, coarse or fine, dry or oily. What matters is that you find a style that suits your hair length and type and your lifestyle. If you lead a hectic life, for example, it doesn't make mucch sense to choose a hair styel that demands a lot of time and attention. Instead, pick one that requires minimum fuss, and save the fancy stuff for special occasions.

Here, we feature styles that are appropriate for the office or for after-five. One of the most noticeable trends this season is the return to romance, which can be achieved with full, bouncy curls, sexy spikes or soft wisps.

For a totally different look, you can try wigs, hairpieces or extensions. A touch of color or highlight also can give your hair a lift provided you pick a shade that's natural-looking and goes with your skin tone. Keep in mind also that, as a Black woman, you have your choice of top-quality hair-care products specially created for you.

Before you make a dramatic change, consult your hairstylist for a look that complements your facial structure and, once again, your hair type and lifestyle. Between visits, regularly wash and condition your hair. And practice styling your new hairdo at home. That way, you will always look like you've just stepped out of a salon.

So consider changing your look with one of the hottest hairstyles for the new year. You'll definitely start '89 off with a bang.
