Malcolm X: The FBI File. - book reviews
Ebony, Feb, 1992
Malcolm X: The FBI File (Carroll & Graf Publishers, $ 12.95) is Stanford University Professor Clayborne Carson's examination of the voluminous record (more than 3,600 pages in 19 sections) that the Federal Bureau of Investigation kept on the charismatic leader.
In addition to providing an intense look at the lengths to which the FBI went to track Malcolm X's life and activities (informants were planted at every level of the Nation of Islam and the Organization of Afro-American Unity), Clayborne also provides commentary on each section of the file and examines Malcolm's life, his ideological development and his relationship to other African-American leaders and institutions.
