Spring fashion for beauty & Comfort
Ebony, Feb, 1998 by Eunice W. Johnson
For spring '98, British and Italian designers are offering a variety of breezy garments that welcome the warm weather season and showcase the body beautiful. From long, sheer gowns, such as Ghost of London's drop-shoulder floral chiffon gown, to skirt suits like Stephan Janson's three-piece ensemble, to Copperwheat Blundell's sleeveless cocktail dress with asymmetrical hem line, the spring designs are audacious and fresh and comfortable with a carefree ambiance. As befitting to the season, designers show plenty of decolletage, bare midriffs and sheer fabrics. Genny of Milan shows a breathtaking black sheer lace, scoop-neck dress with ribbon piping, while Gianfranco Ferre designed a three-piece white ensemble with short jacket, long skirt and midriff blouse. Among the leisure wear shown on the London and Milan runways was Giorgio Armani's colorful, multistriped maillot with chiffon sarong.
Whether you are stepping out to a special party or luncheon or headed to the beach, the British and Italian designers offer something for every style preference.
