Conversation Peace

Ebony, June, 1995 by Lynn Norment

STEVIE WONDER's greatly anticipated conversation Peace (Motown) offers quite a bit to talk about and listen to. He kicks off the recording with the percolating "Rain Your Love Down" and "Edge of Eternity," both of which project Wonder's classic style and lyrics. For those who love kids romantic ballads, there are "Taboo To Love" and "For Your Love." And for variety, there's the reggae-flavored "Tomorrow Robins Will Sing" and the jazzy "Sensuous Whisper." His "My Love Is With You" is a poignant social statement that Wonder wrote for two friends who were murdered.

On "Treat Myself," Stevie sings of "all the pretty places in my head," where there's no Black or white, rich or poor. With Conversation Peace, Stevie demonstrates that he is still a master at his craft.
