Information Overload!!!

Flower & Garden Magazine, Jan, 2001 by Jonathan Prebich

In compiling this issue, I realized how many outlets there are for communication. Phone, fax, email or regular mail--people are getting in touch faster than ever, and that's not a bad thing. While I still prefer the telephone to reach my colleagues, I do utilize the fax machine, and of course, my trusty laptop computer.

This issue comes to you with a wealth of information. New Plants 2001, page 10, showcases numerous additions available to you, the gardener, for the first time. Nurseries and flower retailers mailed, faxed and emailed their entries to Flower & Garden for possible inclusion. Many of the companies listed in the Source Guide, page 52, offer a website. For those who surf the net, this a wonderful way to check out many catalogs and plant companies in a very short period of time.

Places to go and people to see typify Major Home & Garden Shows, page 46. Listed state by state for easy navigation, there is a show for every gardener, whether beginner or master.

Starting on page 22, the first in a series of six, our special rose feature entitled, `Roses--The Straight Scoop,' will delve into the engaging and mysterious world of the sometimes hard-to-maintain rose. This feature will continue to delight and entertain all year long.

Hope you enjoy the issue as much as I did putting it together--and don't forget to keep the letters coming, be it by email, fax, regular mail, etc ...

Coming Next Issue--We travel to `Old Westbury Garden' in Long Island, NY, a location few people forget. Also, a chance to enjoy some local color will be provided, as we set sail on `The Houseboat Gardens of Sausalito.'
