LETTERS To the Editor

Flower & Garden Magazine, March, 2001

Dear J. Prebich and Staff:

Bravo on your stunning new look. It is a whole graphic "graduation" to a marvelous level of photography and layout. Your magazine is now a visual delight.

Ed: Thank you for the wonderful comments. Kudos to Frank DeVino and John Faraci as well, for their great input into the new look of Flower & Garden.

Dear Flower & Garden:

My clivia's leaves become spotted, discolored, turn brown and then die. What is causing this condition and what can be done to prevent it from happening? Thanks in advance.

Ed: At no time should the foliage of clivias be exposed to direct sunlight. In fact, they prefer to be in complete shade. Sun will burn spots that soon turn brown.

Clivias are in all other respects tough plants. Ideal for shady locations in warmer climates, they should be allowed to stay in the same location, be it border or container, for many years.

Dear Editor:

I read your November issue cover to cover. Once in a while I will skip an article, but not this time. I especially enjoyed your articles on Alaska and "Birding at the Rock." I found the article about Alaska most enjoyable and educational. I had no idea things grew so big, and I will never again complain about mowing once a week. I live so close to Alcatraz and hope to visit some day thanks to your article.
