Recipients of the 2000 James Irvine Foundation and Arts International California Presenters Initiative Grants include: the Carpenter Performing Arts Center at California State University at Long Beach, which will present the Joe Goode Performance Group and Rennie Harris PureMovement; Richmond's East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, which will commission traditional and contemporary African music and dance and an African Choreographers Forum; El Camino College Center for the Arts in Torrance, which will present Donald Byrd's The Beast; the Irvine Barclay Theater in Irvine, which will inaugurate an international flamenco festival featuring Yaelisa; and San Francisco's ODC Theater, which will host an extended residency by the Cuban dance company Bran Rra Rra.
