Royal Academy of dance update - Review

Dance Magazine, Nov, 2001 by Karen Hildebrand

Teachers of classical ballet registered by the Royal Academy of Dance now qualify to teach in British schools (with the exception of Scotland) as well as in private dance studios. RAD's Grade and Major Qualifications received accreditation by Qualifications and Curriculum Authorities in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Also, RAD's Professional Dancers' Teaching Diploma can now be attained through a three-month intensive program conducted between June and September at the academy's headquarters in London. The program is designed to train dancers as teachers, and includes components on teaching methodology, music, anatomy, vocabulary, and analysis. For more information, contact: Academic Registrar, Faculty of Education, +44 (0) 20-7326-8000, faculty@rad.org.uk, www.rad.org.uk.
