Dance Magazine, Dec, 2000 by Ann Barzel
Chicago's dance community raised $300,000 at this year's Dance for Life benefit, held August 26 at the Navy Pier Skyline Theater. Local companies Deeply Rooted Dance Ensemble, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, Muntu Dance Theater and River North Chicago Dance Theater performed at the sold-out show, which ended with a group finale choreographed by Randy Duncan.
Harrison McEldowney contributed group dances to accompany, the drawing for raffle prizes. The Dance for Life fund covers the cost of medication, rent, utilities, insurance, travel and other needs of dancers with HIV/AIDS. For more information on benefits for dancers with HIV/AIDS, see page 68.
